Is a Pressure IH Rice Cooker Worth It? What the Extra Pressure Actually Changes

Short answerA pressure IH rice cooker is worth it if you eat rice daily and care about texture, especially for brown rice. For occasional white rice, a plain IH or Micom model is the better value.

01What pressure adds

Zojirushi describes the NW-JEC10 as using high heat plus high pressure, up to 19.1 psi, and claims this makes rice sweeter. Pressure lets water reach a higher temperature than in an open pot, which is why pressure cookers soften tough grains faster.

The NW-JEC10 also has the most settings on this site: five white-rice textures, umami, jasmine, congee, GABA brown and steel cut oatmeal.
